Unidentified gun men kill pastor in bauchi

Unidentified gunmen suspected to be armed robbers struck at the weekend, at a pastor’s residence, at Dilimi village, in Toro local government area of Bauchi state, killing him, leaving his wife and four others injured.
It was gathered that the gunmen attacked the residence of pastor,Moriyo Ayuba, aged 35 years, killing him and injured his wife with four members of the family, they fled with bullet wounds.
The Bauchi state police command’s Public Relation Officer DSP Haruna Mohammed has confirmed the incident to news men in Bauchi yesterday
He said the incident occurred on Saturday night around 11.00 p.m.,  when the suspected arm robbers stormed the residence  of late Moriyo.
According to him, the hoodlums used a Dane gun and sticks in attacking the residentsand made away with undisclosed sums of money.
Mohammed added that during the unfortunate incident, the attackers also carted away properties belonging to the family, while the corpse ofthe deceased was conveyed by the police to Tafawa-Balewa TeachingHospital, Bauchi.
The PPRO said the Police discovered three empty cartridges, including dangerous sticks suspected to have been used for killing Ayuba and that it has dispatched its intelligent securitynetwork to hunt for the fleeing hoodlums.
A resident of the area said the gunmen got access to the pastor’s house through theback-door after a failed attempt to destroy the main gate, made of iron, and immediately told the victim’s wife of their deadly mission to kill her husband.
The deceased pastor’s wife, Mrs. Rifkatu Ayuba Moriya, whowas in tears in company of sympathisers said, the killers of her husband were many.
“On getting to the house, they told me that they are here to kill my husband and we were not left with any option than to engagein lastprayer; yet, they dragged my husband outside and shot him severally, whileothers macheted him to the point of death”,Rifkatu said.
During the incident,Rifkatu stressed that three other people staying in the pastor’s house had to flee for their safety, with one seriously injured. She added that the gunmen raided the house and carted away unspecifiedsum of money.
The chairman, Bauchi state Christian association of Nigeria (CAN) Rev. LawiPokti has condemned the attacked on the pastor’s residence.
